ID cards for a whole list, from a spreadsheet
Student cards, staff badges, event passes and membership cards: start from a template, import your list, add the photos, and print every card at once — or one card typed in by hand. The data and the photos stay in your browser.
Seven steps
- Template — student (upright), employee (across), event badge or membership card, in the bank-card size 85.6 × 53.98 mm (ID-1 / CR80) or CR79, a 4 × 3 in badge or A7.
- Organisation — the name, address, phone, website, your logo and two colours. They are remembered on this device for next time.
- Data — import an Excel (.xlsx), CSV or JSON file. The columns are matched to the card by their names (“Full name”, “Roll No.”, “Employee ID”…), and you can change any. A sample spreadsheet shows the columns each template uses. Up to 5,000 cards at once.
- Photos — choose the photo folder. Each photo is matched by the photo column, or by a file named after the ID (S1001.jpg). “Prepare all photos” finds every face and cuts the photos to the card's photo shape, so the heads are the same size on every card.
- Design — click any part of the card to change it, drag it to move it and its corner to resize it. Add text, fields from your data, the photo, the logo, a QR code or a barcode.
- Check — before anything is printed: missing names, the same ID twice, missing photos, names too long for their place, IDs a barcode cannot hold.
- Save & print — print sheets, a PDF for card printers, or the card images in a ZIP.
Printing
On A4 the cards are centred with 10 per page and thin cut lines. With “front and back”, the backs come on the next page in mirrored order, so a double-sided print (flip on the long edge) puts every back behind its front. For PVC card printers the PDF has one card per page at the card's exact size. A test page with the card outlines and a 50 mm line lets you check that your printer prints at 100 % before you print the cards. Card images are saved at 300 DPI: 1011 × 638 px for a bank-card size card.
Codes and names
QR codes hold any text, also non-English names; barcodes are Code 128, the barcode most scanners read. Names in Arabic or Hebrew are written right to left, and long names first get smaller, then wrap to a second line — a name that still does not fit is listed in the check, so nothing is cut off by surprise.
Questions
Are my list and photos uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser, the cards are drawn in your browser and the PDF is made in your browser. Only the organisation and the design are remembered on this device.
Which spreadsheet columns do I need?
Only a name and an ID for the standard templates; the other columns are optional. Download the sample spreadsheet in the Data step to see them.
How are photos matched to people?
By a photo column holding the file name (with or without .jpg), or by naming each photo after the person's ID. The Photos step lists the cards without a photo and the photos that matched nobody.
Can I make just one card?
Yes: skip the import and fill in the card by hand. From the photo editor, the ID Card tile puts the photo you are editing on the card.
How do I print double-sided?
Choose “Front and back”, print the PDF double-sided and flip on the long edge. Print the test page first to check the scale.
Is it free?
Yes, with no account and no limit on how often you use it.
